Anniversary/Birthday Present
One of my best friends, Larry Hamrick, DDS, wanted a prep knife to match a chef's knife he had gotten for his wife from me for Christmas and this is what we came up with:
It is made from San Mai (core of Hitachi Blue paper steel #2 with jacket of low carbon steel). The blade is 4 3/4" in length and 3/4" in width with an overall length is 9 3/4". It has a handle made form beautifully figured Ziricote with a copper collar and end cap (hammered faces). It is fitted with a mosaic pin; copper and black /white spacers and is full tang with the tang peened into the end cap.
Always fun to make a knife for a gift and for people who really enjoy them. Larry is a true friend and gentleman and I want to thank him for all that he does for me.
