Made This Froe from Bush Hog Blades
Made this froe (tool for cleaving wood along its grain, i.e. making shingles) for my good friend Dr. Steve Shirley of Athens, Georgia. He wanted it made from one of his Bush Hog blades.
The blade is is 13" long and the handle 21“ long of American Hickory soaked in Linseed Oil. He will need a wooden mallet to complete it. Happy Birthday!—my good friend and thank you for all that you have done for me and for the long friendship (40+ years——wow). Hope you enjot it.
Also thanks to my very talented friend, Richard Shrader of Watson Springs, for the use of his coal forge and help with the welding on this project-enjoyed our afternoon working together.
